Tourmaline: the unique type of precious stone

Tourmaline is a very unique type of precious stones. Tourmaline is known since ancient Egyptian times, this stone can absorb all the light from the rainbow through the sun. Tourmaline stones are often referred as a chameleon stone, because   tourmaline stone has a wide range of colors including black and white but the most well known are usually pink. There are also several kinds of colors like the color of the rainbow.

 

Tourmaline has combination of various colors until the concentrated color that emit tremendous charm while be combined with jewelry. Tourmaline actually comes from the words in the dialect of the Singh tribe – India is Mali Tura, which means stone with various colors. Tourmaline has variations color from blue   to yellow, from red to green and the combination of two or three colors. Tourmaline jewelry fans can be addicted because the stone colors are beautiful and alluring.

 

Tourmaline is generated from many mines of countries such as Brazil, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Madagascar, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States. Tourmaline has a good level of violence so that it can be formed in accordance with the wishes of designer. With good quality, tourmaline has a good price on the market.

 

Tourmaline could also resemble emerald because it’s green like emerald. Another type of this stone is rubellite tourmalines (red or pink tourmaline) many people are also frequently wrong in assessing this stone as red stone. Tourmaline stones with green and red color are very rare.

 

There is several color of Tourmaline which is often encountered, namely black, pink, green and clear. Black Tourmaline is believed as the most powerful rock to fend off the negative influences that surround us. Some people protect them self by wearing tourmaline jewelry. The names of tourmaline stones which are categorized according to the color: Pink and red: rubellite, blue: indicolite / indigoligoli, green: verdelite, yellow: dravit, black: schorl and Colorless: achroit.

 

Tourmaline stones have a chemical compound of boron, silicate and aluminum. The beautiful colors of tourmaline stones are mostly from chrome, iron, vanadium, manganese and copper. The composition of tourmaline stones is complicated, complex and not easily understood. Tourmaline stones have a strong value of 7.5 based on a list of Mohs scale. Tourmaline stones are categorized as the precious stone and occupy at number five after diamond, corundum, chrysoberyl and topaz.

 

Chinese people often combine the tourmaline stone with jade stone as a unique blend of jewelry. One characteristic of tourmaline stone can be seen while it’s rubbed by hand; then the stone will become a magnet and will attract small objects such as pieces of paper or cork.
